My passport has my maiden name as my surname. However, when filing the DS-260 form, I entered my married name as my surname and my maiden name as “other names used.” My interview is next week. Will this cause problems for me? Should I update this and how?

Immigration attorneysYou cannot update DS-260 on your own. Bring this up with the officer. Your passport needs to have your current legal name.

Immigration attorneysShould be ok. You can clarify as you have if necessary. Be sure to bring your marriage certificate with you.

Immigration attorneysYou should just email the Consulate and ask them to reopen your DS-260 since you need to update it prior to your interview. Explain to them that you need to correct your name in order for it to match your passport. They usually will email you back quickly and reopen your DS-260 so that you can correct it and resend it. If this is not done prior to your interview; then it could delay the processing of your application. Good luck.
