How can I go the EB-5 direct investment route if I don”t want to run a company myself?

Will the EB-5 direct investment route still be in existence beyond June 30, 2021, even if the EB-5 regional center program is not reauthorized? What can I chose to invest in if want to go the direct route but I have no business experience and I don”t want to run my own company? That are my alternatives? Can I pay someone to run a company for me?

You can pay a manager to run the company but you have to be directly involved in managing the business.

Yes, this is doable; most persons wanting this, invest in a regional center project as the management structure to run it is already in place; but no reason a direct project could not work. We expect the program to be re-authorized after June but of course no guarantees.

Yes, you can invest together with someone else or, if you want to be a 100% co-owner, you can hire a management company or a person to run the company.

We believe the direct investment will stay in place even after June 2021. In direct investment, you must commit to manage your business. However, you can hire someone to help you manage your business.

As a direct EB-5 investor, you must be engaged in the management of your new commercial enterprise. You can meet this requirement by being involved in the day-to-day management of the company, or by having certain rights regarding policy making for the company. Therefore, if the organizational documents of your new company give you such rights, you could pay someone else to do the day-to-day management activities.
