Can I as an Afghan investor get priority for EB-5 due to the circumstances in my country?

I need to leave Afghanistan and I have money to invest. Would United States do anything to prioritize us because of the ongoing situation? What are my options?

I-526 processing is typically a first in/first out process unless you have a long visa backlog (China), in which case they may get to those later. There are other options you may have, considering, but not EB-5.

Even prioritizing it is going to take years. I suggest you look at other options.

Unfortunately, the processing times for EB-5 make it unlikely this is a solution. However, if you are able to get out and apply for a visa from another country, there may be viable options.

It is possible to request an I-526 expedite based on humanitarian reasons, but we need to evaluate your situation closely and determine the best strategy. You should speak with an experienced attorney to discuss your case.

Yes, if you can show that you are eligible for expedited processing, your case will be given priority.

I don’t know, but I’d be willing to help however possible to make that happen. You can certainly ask, but it would help to be in an EB-5 project that has expedited I-526 approval. There are several broker-dealers and others in the US who may be able to help identify such opportunities. Godspeed and safety to you and your family.

You could try to leave the country and start the process from another country. Even if you could get a quick approval of an EB-5 visa, which is very unlikely, consular processing is nearly at a standstill due to the purported virus.
