Could the sale of a family heirloom qualify as a legal source of funds?

Part of my family inheritance is jewellery that I’d like to sell to raise my investment money for the EB-5 visa. The issue is that this jewelry has been in my family for generations; I’m not sure of its origin. Even if I sell it through a renowned jewelry reseller, will this lack of knowledge about the item affect my application?

I haven’t tried this but whatever you and the jeweler can put together on its provenance would be helpful to show legally owned.
