Attorney Abrutyn earned his undergraduate degree and his Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from the University of Michigan in 1996 and 1999, respectively.
Attorney Abrutyn is very active within the immigration community. He is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the Washington State Bar Association, and the State Bar of Michigan. He has served on the AILA Removal and Detention Committee, the AILA 2012 Annual Conference Committee, the AILA Amicus Committee, and the Michigan Unauthorized Practice of the Law Committee. He earned the American Immigration Lawyer Association’s Jack Wasserman Memorial Award in 2010 for his excellence in litigation and also earned the Sam Williamson Mentor Award in 2011.
He has been admitted to practice law in the state of Washington since 1999 and in the state of Michigan since 2002. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Western and Eastern Districts of Washington, the United States District Courts for the Western and Eastern Districts of Michigan, and the United States Court of Appeal for the Ninth, Sixth, and Second Circuits.
