Joanna Jiang is a corporate/securities attorney with Ballard Spahr LLP, where she represents companies in Asia and Greater China that do business in the United States. Jiang advises clients on international taxation, cross-border transactions, and both inbound and outbound investment in Asia.
Jiang has experience in business and finance, investment management, taxation, mergers and acquisitions, EB-5 securities issues and immigration visas, applications, and status adjustments. Jiang consults with investment companies and advisers, trust fund managers, and brokers regarding hedge funds, private equity funds, investment banking, and other fiduciary matters. She’s also knowledgeable of the real estate industry, including industrial, retail, residential, healthcare, and infrastructure.
Before joining Ballard Spahr in 2015, Jiang was an attorney/law clerk with Greenberg Traurig, LLP in New Jersey.
Jiang earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in art history and a Bachelor of Law (LL.B.) degree at Peking University. She received her Juris Doctor (J.D.) and Master of Law (LL.M.) degrees at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo.
Jiang is admitted to practice law in New York, New Jersey, Illinois, and Washington, D.C. Jiang has done volunteer work as a pro bono attorney with the Clemency Project and the Military Discharge Upgrade Project. She was the recipient of Ballard Spahr’s 2016 Pro Bono Award for her work on the Clemency Project, which led to four federal inmates having their sentences commuted.
Jiang is a member of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association- Washington, D.C. and the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association. She is fluent in English and Mandarin.
