When can I receive my I-485 receipt?

I have submitted I-485 in early October to the Dallas Lockbox. But I still have not received the receipt notices yet. When can we expect notices? If you do not receive it after two months, what is the next step?

Unfortunately receipts have been delayed on account of the massive number of filings. Hopefully it will be accepted and you will get a receipt.

If you have the receipt number from an e-mail received from USCIS, you can file a request online at https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/displayNDNForm.do;jsessionid=E718BC6D4BD76F4011839932CE22C905?sroPageType=ndn&entryPoint=init

Many receipts from early October are not here yet, because of such a volume filed then.

We are seeing receipts come in about five to six weeks after filing. Filing fee checks are cashed approximately four weeks after receipt. If the filing fee check has not been cashed within six weeks, there could be an issue with the filing. I would make sure the filing was 1) received at the appropriate office; 2) not rejected (by checking your return address mailbox).

They are taking a lot longer in 2020 than I have ever experienced. USCIS has an electronic request service for missing documents.

Email DHS at the lockbox. Then check with the ombudsman. Then contact the office of your senator or congressman.

USCIS is delayed in issuing receipt notices. You can check with your bank to see if the filing fee checks have been cashed. The majority of receipts are issued within two months. If the receipt number is on the back of your cashed check, you could call the USCIS Contact Center to inquire about the receipt. You also could input the case number online to confirm that it was received and is being processed by USCIS.
